DARO DEEWAR PE-GHAZAL

Here is My first Ghazal on the blog…and it is possible only because of Anil-ji…When I mentioned to Anil-ji that I wanted to sing a ghazal and I was tired of doing film songs, he immediately asked me to send some ghazlas that I would have liked to do, and said ,”I will make a track for you, but it will take a little time since the original has been recorded with the best artists in the industry”,but within only a few days, when I received my track I was floored, I couldn’t believe how detailed and beautiful it was. I have to say, Anil-ji you are no less than the ‘best of the best’. You have done an amazing job!!!
‘Daro Deewar Pe’ is a beautiful ghazal by Hariharnan-ji (one of my idols) from Album Gulfam. Please enjoy it and if you have not heard the rest of the ghazals from this album, please do listen to them.
Here it is. Hope you will get to listen to something different this time.

What can I say? It's easily the best post on your blog so far of which even Hariharanji will be proud of , if he listens to. Only problem is this will make the listeners crave for more.

It is a perfect fusion of 2 great talents. It will be very difficult to believe that this was a karaoke track over which ghazal was sung. Simply superlative ! This is a lesson beautiful in arrangment for composers like me.

Hello Swati:

We're simply blown away by your gazal. I had not hear Hariharan's version. But then now I hear him too. Ofcourse, Hariharan is the greatest. But you're fantastic. We kept humming (well not really, as its a tough one).

My son Abhijit (in California) introduced to your song. We long to hear more from you. You have a good voice, perfect swara and taal.

Keep it up!!

Best wishes,

Vijay and Ashwini

Swati,
Fantastic! I particularly like the sharpness and clarity in your voice.
I can see how your voice is suitable for Lataji's songs. But after I listened to this ghazal, I think your voice can do a great justice to the gazals by Ashaji too! I am sure you must have heard Gulam Ali and Ashaji's album 'Meraj-E-Ghazal'... I particularly like the song- Salona Sa Sajan hai.. I think it will come out great in your voice.
I'm so happy to find this blog... Looking forward to hear more of your songs.

I stumbled upon your blog page while looking for musical blogs in the Indian Music Blogs Directory. Although the post is over an year old, it has achieved eternity partly due to the beautiful voice that you have and partly because of the wonders of the web.

Beyond the obvious fact that your voice appeals to the soul, what struck me listening to the song is the fact that how closely you have listened to the original Ghazal by Hariharan, the harkats and the murkis...and reproduced it equally well via the vocal prowess that Saraswati has blessed you with...

If Hariharan was a female inheriting every attribute of his male musical reflection, (s)he would sound like you :).

Rest assured, you have a new fan in me...Cheers.

Thanks for the prompt reply in that case :). I hardly post although there are a guzillion thoughts that I feel the urge to write about somedays...sigh...

Anyways, I couldn't fail to notice the kaushidhwani (YIM ID derived from Gotra?? Kaushik? or just your favorite raga?).

Take care and keep singing...Look forward to following your musical virtuosity more closely...some people call it stalking others fan-following. Anyways, I can keep going on and on...I better shut up.

Cheers.
